I am here to say, (in my most Southern accent), Happy Fall, Y'all!
I am originally from upstate New York, but my family and I relocated to the Carolinas over twenty years ago. If you've ever visited, you'll soon realize it's hard not to become a little Southern. The hospitality is as sweet as our tea, and everyone is welcome.
Now that Autumn has arrived, porch sitting has become more bearable, and we love nothing more. This past summer in the Carolinas has been hot! But now we can take in the day from a rocker on the porch and catch up with the neighbors.
As the cooler weather arrives and the leaves begin to change, the smell of bonfires fills the evening air. Tourists flock to the area for Fall festivals, such as the State Fairs and the Renaissance Faire.
Both are such fun events!
Fall is a wonderful time to live in the Carolinas.

Fall is a wonderful season. Although, at this point of the season it is pretty much just dates on the calendar where I live, we do start to have some relief from the intense heat of summer. Years ago, my family would escape to the mountains for a taste of fall color and cooler weather. Timing is everything, so sometimes that purpose was left unfulfilled, but we still enjoyed the opportunity to get away. We now stay closer to home. The fall fair and other large events are back this year, and although the are not things I usually attend, it is good knowing that they are happening. Even with the still warm weather (it is noon and 80 degrees as I type), the thought of a cup of hot tea, hot chocolate, or hot apple cider sounds pretty good! Another plus, after a very wet summer, we are starting to see some nice days again! I am also seeing more fall themed decorations in front of homes this year - that's fun.

DeleteYes, it's still warm in the Carolinas, also. We are hoping to go to the mountains to see the fall foliage--we usually visit Blowing Rock, which is a beautiful little town.
Hi Josie, Fall is absolutely my favorite time of year. I love the colors changing, fall festivals, walks in the woods, cool crisp mornings before the sun comes up, gathering around the fire pit with friends having a bit of spiked apple cidar, and simply sitting on the porch soaking in the cooler weather. This season seems to get shorter and shorter each year which makes me sad. I have a dear friends who live in North Carolina, both on the sea side (Southport) and the west side of state. I love visiting there. As much as I would love to go somewhere where the temps are fall like year round, it would take away the beauty of the changing of the leaves, which in my book is the most beautiful part of fall. Love your books. I love listening to them while walking my puppy.
