My Favorite Season by Laura Scott

Good morning! One of the best things about living in Wisconsin is that we get to enjoy all four seasons. And while I am not the biggest fan of winter, I adore fall. Especially when the trees around us are changing color. I can't deny, I prefer the cooler weather, too. Summer is nice, but fall is my favorite season of the year.

Just seeing the red and yellow leaves makes me happy. I know they signal the end of summer, but I can't help but love them anyway.

What is your favorite season and why?

Today I'm also featuring my free novella, Healing Her Heart. This is a short story, but a heartwarming one that introduces the small town of Crystal Lake and the fun, quirky people who live there. If you haven't read my Crystal Lake series, you may want to give this book a try. After all, it's free!

Dr. Gabe Allen has a rule about dating colleagues but when he meets ER nurse Larissa Brockman he's tempted to break his vow. Larissa's faith draws him back to the church he'd left behind, but when their lives are on the line Gabe discovers that Larissa is the one who needs to learn about the true meaning of forgiveness. And only Gabe can help heal her heart.

September is National What Month? by Pat Simmons

Every month our country recognizes a worthy cause, reflects on a moment in time, or celebrates the little things.

I opened my email to learn that I almost missed out. September is National Sewing Month. Who knew??? My reason to go fabric shopping. I can do that. :)

Of course, we can't celebrate without prizes. The sewing pattern companies are sponsoring some great giveaways. I entered. As a seamstress, it's all about support. Plus, now I have an excuse to step away from my writing desk for my sewing table.

I've been sewing for many, many years and the price patterns have skyrocketed. It's not uncommon for Vogue patterns to be $25 off sale. But the celebration includes downloading a free digital pattern. Something I have never done. It's free--they say--until I have to print it out. Now, I wonder if I have enough ink and paper.
If I had known about this big-to-do, I would have challenged myself to sew a certain number of garments by the end of the month. But then I wouldn't have finished my puppies for Christmas story for readers to enjoy. Nine novellas and short stories for you to enjoy every week beginning in October through December for only .99 cents. If October is Shoe Buying Month, then I'll have to hide my credit cards. :)

Hi, I'm Camy Tang/Camille Elliot!

Hi everybody! I’m Camy Tang, and I’ve just joined Sweet Romance Reads. Nice to meet you all!

As USA Today bestselling author Camy Tang I write Christian Contemporary Romantic Suspense, and I also wrote a few Mysteries and Women’s Fiction novels for Guideposts.

I also write Christian Regency Romantic Suspense under my pen name, USA Today bestselling author Camille Elliot. I’m in the middle of writing my Lady Wynwood’s Spies series, which is an epic serial novel, where each part is the length of a full novel, about 90,000 words each.

Three strange things about me:

I’m from Hawaii (born and raised there) but I don’t like the beach.
I like to knit patterns written in the 1800s, also called vintage or antique patterns.
I love reading Japanese Light Novels (mostly Fantasy and Speculative Fiction novels in serial format) and even though I just turned 50, I started learning Japanese just so I could read the ones that weren’t translated into English.

If you’d like, tell me three strange things about you!

A Royal Romance by Janice Lynn

I am so excited to share an awesome new anthology that I have a royal romance in. The anthology has been planned for many months, but certainly there's lots of royal talk with the recent loss of Queen Elizabeth. I've thought much of the life she led, reigning for for 71 years. That's a bit surreal. I tend to pause when royal news appears in my social media feed, and I adore Harry and Meghan and the romance writer in me does lots of happy sighs on their romance. But I've never considered myself a close follower of royal families. When I first thought of writing this story, I wondered about writing a royal romance, as it felt outside my comfort zone. But then it occurred to me that my first book sold actually had a princess hidden away in a castle. She wasn't the main character, but she was certainly there. So, although I thought I was stretching myself (and I am!), I'm also going back to where I started in some ways.

Each story is sweet, has a royal spin of some sort, and is written by some talented ladies I love dearly. If you love a royal happy ever after, preorder your copy of Royal for just 99 cents. That's a super deal!

Getting The Answers to Those What If Questions by Merri Maywether

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary the first week of this month.  When people ask how we met, I tell them our story is literally like the opening scenes in UP. I was, and still am, the messy-haired girl. My husband was the quiet boy who had dreams. When I saw him, I decided he needed a friend. Who better than me to fill that role than me? Apparently, I must have been on the right track because we're still happily married.

In our thirties, I had him rollerblading through the park. It was fun until I crashed into a pole (but that's another story)

In our forties, we hiked. Our greatest accomplishments were hiking to the Havasupai Falls and the Seven Summit Challenge in Phoenix, AZ.  (The Summit Challenge is an event where people hike the seven peaks within Phoenix, AZ. It is over 26 miles long and over 11,000 feet in elevation changes.) Randy likes to show people the bruise he got on his ankle.

Now, we are not in our forties. In previous posts, I shared that I took Randy zip lining. Keeping in with the theme of having adventures in our home state, I coordinated a staycation in Great Falls, Montana, for our anniversary.  The heart of the weekend getaway was to experience those what-if moments.

We live on a farm with an unobstructed view of the prairie land. It is beautiful, serene, and quiet.

What if we moved to the city and lived in one of those sweet cottage homes? Or what if we stayed in an apartment in the historic district?

The carpet, tile, bathrooms, and kitchens were updated. However, the details like the woodwork connecting the walls to the ceiling remained the same. The windows had grid-style panes. Every time the floor creaked, we imagined the families from a hundred years ago walking in the same spot. The stores beneath the apartments varied from the bridal shop, to the butcher, to the mercantile where people could buy dry goods and sodas.

It turned into a weekend of pretending like we were characters in my stories. We talked with strangers and laughed at life. We ate at cafes and tried reverse engineering the ingredients in pastries so we could make them at home.  I sneaked in an indoor rock climbing trip, and nobody was injured.

Best of all, we reconnected with those two young people who wanted to experience all that life had to offer. Except, now we're more like Aunt Tee and Miles in my Ashbrook, Montana sagas. When we returned to our quiet farmhouse, we didn't have to discuss what we'd do next. We sat on the couch and took a nap.

And this time, we only have pictures to remind us of the fun we had :)

Taryn used to be a model. After using the money she earned to put herself through college, she put that life behind her, embracing a life her cousins promised would be different. She’s content working as a physical therapist, living in a cozy home, and having dinner every Sunday at her aunt and uncle’s house.

That was until a man she met on a dating site convinced her to meet him for a group date.

Chase wants to meet a kind-hearted woman who is interested in him. Not his status as Paradise Hills’ most eligible bachelor. And he thinks he’s found her after chatting with Taryn on the Paradise Hills Meet and Greet forum for six months.

He was expecting the woman who looked like the girl next store. Not the retired beauty vlogger who tried to take his date’s seat.

Taryn and Chase will feel the touch of the Paradise Hills magic through a series of holiday events and some prodding from family and friends.

If they keep their eyes open for the signs, they’re in for a real treat.

Paradise Hills Trick or Treat will satisfy your taste for a sweet holiday romance.

Life Imitates Art by Kimberly Rose Johnson

You know the saying that life imitates art? Well, it's true!

In my upcoming release Found: An Almost Perfect Christmas my main character teaches 2nd grade in a small Montana town. She also substitute taught the first grade class. In my wildest imagination I never thought I'd be a substitute teacher, considering my degree is in behavioral science, yet that is exactly what I did this past Tuesday. I taught a first/second grade combo class in a small Montana town. The entire school district has fewer than 70 students in grades pre-K through eight.

Here is the back cover blurb for my upcoming Christmas release which is available for pre-order on Amazon for only 99¢.

When a young boy’s life is threatened, his dad will do anything to keep him safe, including eliciting the help of his single and beautiful school teacher.

One of Hope Creek, Montana’s most desired single men has his hands full this Christmas with a new puppy litter, work, and a rambunctious young son. Now, someone has threatened to harm his son if he doesn’t reveal the location of a mystery woman.

Second grade teacher, Bethany Evans, loves her job, but she wants more. Could Toby and his dad hold the key to making this Christmas extra special, or will the trouble they are facing not only ruin Christmas but destroy their lives in the process?

From Selah award winning author, a Christian romance novella with a touch of mystery and suspense.

Award winning author Kimberly Rose Johnson married her college sweetheart and lives in the Pacific Northwest USA. From a young child Kimberly has been an avid reader. That love of reading fostered a creative mind and led to her passion for writing. She especially loves romance and writes contemporary romance and romantic mystery and suspense with a heart.

Kimberly holds a degree in Behavioral Science from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, and is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers.

The Art of Juggling by Merrillee Whren

Have you ever tried to juggle? I have, and I've not been successful. I'm sure there's a technique to juggling, but I haven't learned it. Even though I can't juggle balls or some other objects, I do juggle a lot of other things as an author. Authors have to juggle writing, editing, promotion, social media, and the rest of their lives. Indie authors may have to add book covers, formatting, and even more promotion to the mix.

You've probably heard the expression, "dropped the ball." Sometimes when you're trying to keep all those things going, despite all your hard work, you drop one of those balls or maybe two or three. Recently, I confess to dropping the promotion ball. I've been writing one book, editing another, and formatting yet another book. While doing those things, I haven't kept up with the promotional aspect of writing. This blog post might help with a little promotion.

My latest book, Annie's Hope, the first book in The Village of Hope series, is now available in paperback. You can buy it here. If you prefer, you can preorder the ebook at the retailers below. It will release on September 27, 2022.

Do you love a rip-roaring swashbuckling adventure? Do you enjoy reading about historical America? Then you need to check out my three-book South Carolina Brides series.

About Mutiny of the Heart

This kind of historical romance is perfect, it has all you desire. A cast of characters, political and international intrigue, conflicting romance, and heartwarming feelings evoked with the relationship that developed between Heather, Lucas, and little Jamie. A must-read for historical bluffs. Accuracy was key, and this book delivered. I look forward to reading all of this author's books.

Reviewer Crysmisty

Mutiny of the Heart

Heather Hawthorne has no reason to like Lucas Reed, the man who deserted her cousin Deborah when he learned she was carrying his child. Lucas Reed is an American whose fight for liberty ruined her father's wealth, which led to his death. Deborah's dying wish is that Heather take little Jamie to his father in Charleston. But how can she leave the child she's come to love as her own with a man who never wanted him?

Secrets of the Heart

Preparing for an arranged marriage to Jamie Reed, the heir to the neighboring plantation, Hannah Madison knows her life is well-ordered and safe. But that was before she first stumbled upon a seriously injured stranger in the Reeds' barn. Hannah names the stranger Adam. Will he ever remember his identity? What caused him to be horribly beaten? And why does he have a sense of urgency about unfinished tasks? When the truth does become clear, will Hannah be able to keep these secrets close to her heart and trust the Lord to bring what is best for all those she loves? Or will the sacrifice she is called to make become too great a burden to bear?

Dueling Hearts

After Reed Bishop killed her brother in a duel, the full responsibility of caring for her South Carolina plantation and ailing father has fallen on Carina. Years later, Reed returns, and he seems a different man, but time will tell. Reed seems determined to help Carina with her overwhelming problems, but can she ever trust the man who killed her brother?

The Importance of Grandparents Day by Josie Riviera

Grandparents Day in the U.S. is celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day.  The history began in 1969 when a 9 year old boy wrote a letter to President Nixon asking that a day be set aside to celebrate grandparents.

In 1978, President Carter signed the proclamation, and, the following year, Grandparents Day was celebrated for the first time.

Here are some interesting facts:

53% of grandparents take care of their grandchildren so that their parents can work.

In 2011, 4.8 million pre-school children, were cared for by a grandparent.

Every year, grandparents spend 52 billion dollars on their grandchildren.

Grandparents are family, and they won't be around forever. Expressing love and gratitude through a postcard, video chat, and/or letter, are always appreciated. A visit, a meal, or enjoying a hobby together such as puzzles or bird-watching, are ways that we can all appreciate and spend more time with our grandparents.

How do you spend time with your grandparents or loved ones? Please leave your comments below.
