Hoofbeats, happy days...and my new book release --Roxanne Rustand

Ah, the memories...the years of growing up on the back of my horse when I was little, the years of showing horses (first, at the little local shows, then on to the bigger WSCA, Tri-State and quarter horse show circuits in the Upper Midwest throughout high school and college.  Happy days, whether I won or lost, for I was able to do what I loved more than anything.

I left college for a while to work for a horse trainer--Monte Forman, for any of you who were around "way back when" and might remember him--and then, after my dh and I married, we began raising horses.

This AQHA palomino yearling, Patsy, was an equine airhead  :)  but she did pretty well at halter in the late 1970's, and then later, she became a good broodmare.  I hadn't thought about her for a long time...until I looked at my latest book cover.

My newest Love Inspired novel,  Falling for the Rancher, has just been released.  I was so happy to see it at Walmart a few days ago!
And  it was even more fun to see the similarity between our mare Patsy and the horse on the cover! Though the photo of her is from the side and doesn't show it, she even had the same blaze.

This novel means a lot to me in more important ways, though, for it touches on themes that mean a lot to me, is set in a fictitious small town in the beautiful St. Croix, Wisconsin area that I love, and the hero and heroine are both veterinarians--each with a troubled, difficult past.

Any of you who leave a comment here will be entered in a raffle  for a free e-copy of this book from Amazon.

Best wishes to you all for a wonderful summer!

Roxanne

  4. I had two horses for twenty-five years before they died of old age. I got them before my daughter was born. so she grew up with them. She never knew what it was like to not have horses in the pen, bugging her for treats every time she came out of the house. They were as spoiled as my cats.

  5. Love the palomino!!! We had a palomino stud named Trigger. He was so gorgeous! My mare always threw palominos at birth, but most turned white or gray. Looking forward to reading Falling for the Rancher. Thanx for the giveaway!

    1. So interesting that they were born palomino and then turned gray or white. I've seen a lot of black foals, with just a few white hairs, turn gray then almost white as they age, but never a palomino.
      Very cool!

  7. I was always fascinated with horses when I was growing up. I would have loved an opportunity to ride horses, however, as the youngest in a family of 9 kids, that wasn't in the budget. I love your story and the cover of your new book is beautiful!
