Happy Mother's Day

Today we celebrate mothers, old and young. Mother's have a big influence on our lives. They bring us into this world and nurture us. Since I had to write a blog post that happens to fall on Mother's Day, I thought about the fictional mother's I have created in my stories.

In the first book I ever sold to Love Inspired, THE HEART'S HOMECOMING, my heroine comes back home to care for her mother who has Alzheimer's. Her decision to return home reunites her with her high school sweetheart and former fiancé. In AN UNEXPECTED BLESSING, my heroine takes on the task of motherhood when her sister and brother-in-law die in a car accident and leave behind their infant son. The heroine of FOUR LITTLE BLESSINGS, becomes the caregiver of her sister's four children when her sister is sent to prison for life.

I have four books that feature single moms, LOVE WALKED IN, MOMMY'S HOMETOWN HEROHOMETOWN DAD, and my latest book, A FAMILY TO CALL OURS.

I have one book, SECOND CHANCE REUNION, in which the heroine is a mother in need of redemption. Because of bad decisions in her life, the story opens when she is seeking legal help to get her children back. She finds that help from the people at the Village of Hope. This is the first book of three set at the Village of Hope.

You can click on the name of each book that I have mentioned to find an excerpt and buy links.

Here is a photo of my mother when she was young. I lost her much too soon when I was in my middle thirties. She always encouraged me to do whatever I wanted. I'm just sorry she wasn't alive to see me publish my first book, but memories of her make me happy. She brought joy, not only to her family but to many whose lives she touched. She read to me from an early age. I attribute my interest in writing to that early introduction to books.

What special things have you shared with your mother?
