Admiring the Pacific Northwest by Melanie D. Snitker

I had the wonderful opportunity to fly to the Portland, Oregon area to visit with my mom and one of my brothers. I'm not a huge fan of flying, but I do enjoy looking at the changes in the land below as we cross the states. And no matter what the flight is like, it's always worth it when I get to my destination and can hug my loved ones!

I live in Texas and this area has a lot of green trees and wildflowers this time of the year. When I got to Portland, I was reminded of how beautiful it is there. Sure, there are trees everywhere, but it's more than that. With moss growing on the trees and fences, plus the vines and ferns covering the ground, everything seems green. Throw in the flowers that bloom everywhere, and it truly is gorgeous.

I'm glad I live in Texas and enjoy it here. But if there's one place I like to visit, it's the Pacific Northwest in the spring! What about you?

Upcoming Release

Speaking of pretty flowers, roses play a small part in my new book, Someone to Trust. When Brooke's friend, Chess, bought her a rose bush, it gave her hope that some day he might think of her as something more.

Someone to Trust will release on May 20th and is available for pre-order now. If you enjoy stories about best friends falling in love, you'll like Someone to Trust!

Here's a little more about it:
Brooke Pierce thought she'd perfected the art of hiding her feelings from Chess, her best friend and surrogate brother. Then, in a moment of weakness, she reveals the truth. His immediate rejection shatters her heart. After years of waiting for something that clearly wasn’t meant to be, it’s time to break away. Knowing she needs to move on, she must rely on the faith that’s always sustained her.

Chess Summers can’t be the person Brooke needs, even though his heart demands otherwise. Determined to protect Brooke from his past, he's refused to tell her about the family he came from or the painful way it fell apart. He’ll do anything to give her the future she deserves, even if it means keeping his distance to prevent history from repeating itself.

As they grapple with the changes in their friendship, they realize moving apart won’t end their struggles. Only by taking the journey together can it lead to the redemption and love they both so desperately seek.

Melanie D. Snitker has enjoyed writing for as long as she can remember. She started out writing episodes of cartoon shows that she wanted to see as a child and her love of writing grew from there. She and her husband live in Texas with their two children who keep their lives full of adventure, and two dogs who add a dash of mischief to the family dynamics. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys photography, reading, crochet, baking, target shooting, camping, and hanging out with family and friends.

  1. I've never visited the Pacific Northwest, Melanie, as my daughter is attending university in Ireland. So, my husband and I tend to head toward Europe. Best wishes on your latest release!

  3. Love our beautiful Pacific Northwest (although my little corner of it looks vastly different than the Portland area!) So glad you could make the trip to visit your family!
