Decisions, decisions...developing a book cover .....Roxanne Rustand

The writing process is challenging, but it also brings me joy, and finding the right cover is so interesting!

I would never attempt creating a cover on my own, but just finding the right elements to include and working through the tweaking process is fascinating to me.

For a romantic suspense, for instance, the cover needs to convey an element of jeopardy.

If a cover misleads a reader and they are later disappointed in the type of story they bought, they won't be happy!

I will have three more books out this spring in my Montana Series five-book series.  FINAL PURSUIT  (book #3)  will be released on February 22nd. The cover is completed--including the dog in the story.

For my author brand "Faith, family and four-footed friends--a life in the country" I try to always include an animal appearing in the story. Hence,  the Border Collie.  :)

The cover draft for FINAL ESCAPE (Book #4,  releasing  April 5th) is almost complete--except for finding a spot to include the Bernese in the story.

The cover artist and I are debating about placing him on one of the boulders, and also debating about gradually brightening the color of the lower half of the cover, so the boulders and the rushing water are more clear.

What do you think? I would love to hear your opinion! Leave a comment, and you'll be in a drawing for a free e-copy of FINAL CHANCE (Book #2 in this series.)

Wishing you all the best,

Roxanne
