Hello! I am suffering from a bug - the lack of travel bug! I know many of you are in the same boat, no trips overseas, no big vacations, sigh. All of this has been hard for me. Usually we take at least one smaller trip each year, with one longer trip every two years. Here I was able to retire from my stressful day job, only to be stuck at home for almost a year because of the pandemic.
The only bright side is that I have gotten lots of writing done!
This May hubby and I will celebrate 36 years of marriage. We had to cancel our plans to go on a baltic cruise last May for our 35th and I don't see that changing this year.
I've found myself turning to books that take place in exotic locations. I always enjoy learning about new places through stories, for example when Nora Roberts writes about Ireland. Reading her words describing Ireland makes me feel like I'm right there with her characters. Of course, it also makes me want to plan a trip to Ireland, but again, that's not happening any time soon.
Am I alone in this? Or do you have similar experiences? I'm hoping I'm not the only odd ball, lol.
I'm looking for good books that take place in fun and interesting locations. Any suggestions? I'd love the chance to travel stories since we can't travel in person.

Laura, I've been doing the same kind of traveling! Two of my favorite authors, Rosamunde Pilcher and Marcia Willett, transport me to the United Kingdom. Rosamunde's books are older, so you get a bit of time travel as well (20th century). Happy reading!

ReplyDeleteWe missed two big trips in 2020, and I don't see 2021 being much better, especially for cruises. I just like to read, so it doesn't matter where the characters are.
