The present and the future will
probably be filled with lots of changes for all of us, no matter what age or
stage of life we are in.
But today I wanted to talk
about the past, about the times in our lives when we were faced with a “crossroads”.
Or a decision.
Or when a giant change was thrust upon us. Whether we wanted it or not.
I call these moment “defining
moments.” They show the stuff that we are made of!
They are sometimes the times
that often take amazing courage. Our decision alters the path of our life.
We quit a job instead of
allowing ourselves to be belittled by an incompetent boss one more time.
We say yes to the ring!
We bite our tongue during a
heated argument, and do NOT say the thing that would be hurtfully remembered
forever.
We stand up for something or
someone when it’s right, even though we know there will be a cost.
Or sometimes, by some minute,
or surprise choice, life changes just as much. It can be for good or bad. Like someone taking a right turn instead of a
left, unwittingly missing a bad
accident.
Or randomly selecting a lottery number (let’s all hope for this one).
If the decision was forced upon us, the strength comes from how we handle the circumstances.
We are strong women, and I
think we need to applaud ourselves and each other when we show this courage.
How about the characters we
love in our books? I find those
strengths in the characters I love, the ones I remember.
In my book “Christmas with
the Crazy Cowboy”, my heroine has
absolutely turned her life upside down for the good of her child’s emotional
needs. And my hero is at a
crossroads. Defining moments. Can they find love? Spoiler alert….. Yes!
And how about you? Have you faced some “defining moments?” And in your most loved books, are there some “defining
moments” too? I’d love to hear!
Love, Christine

I've had some life-altering moments for sure, Christine. It has made me better understand the saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
