Pandemic hair.
This week I’m getting my hair done. It’s been almost 5
months. I’m actually stressed about it.
Not necessarily about virus-worry, as it sounds like the
salon is doing everything right. It’s
about my hair. Long, shapeless, roots winning the fight.
When I was young, I wore my thick dark brown hair long, long,
long. Then I cut it, right about when my
first daughter was born, many years ago.
It’s been very short ever since.
“Get a new do!” “Let
it grow!” “Go grey!” Everybody's got an opinion.
OK. True confession. I’ve dyed my hair for 20 years. My brother’s hair began turning white at age
26. Mine waited a bit longer than that, but as soon as those salty strands
appeared… Bang. I got rid of them. Boy, are they back!
Now some people can handle grey with Pizazz. Could I?
Let it go LONNNGGGG?
I don’t think I’d live that long.
Messy as usual, but grey?
What’s the point?
Beside the fact that MY grey looks mousy and makes NO
statement at all.
So I’m going for the hair dye. Roots be gone. And the old haircut. Enough of this crazy contemplation. I’m going for the usual. NORMAL. After all, normal is what I’m wishing
for in every aspect of the wild and crazy world. Normal will be good.
I’ve been writing characters of different ages in my books. Some
and young. And some have GLORIOUS grey hair. What age of character do you like
to read?
And also, I’d love to hear what you think about hair!

Shhhhh... don't tell anyone, but I still color my hair. And I do it myself. I trim my ends and my bangs myself, too. I'm low maintenance. LOL
ReplyDeleteummm.. your secret is safe. Kind of.. except for all the blog readers of course!!!
DeleteI cut my own hair, but I don't do any color. I have a lot of gray mixed in with the brown, but when I look in the mirror, I see mostly brown. :) Maybe that's wishful thinking.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!
DeleteChristine, I love to read books, and watch TV and movies, with interesting, vibrant characters aged 50+
