For the Love of Audio Books!

Today, I'm here to talk about another way to read, using your auditory senses. That's right, I'm here to talk about audiobooks.

Hands-Free Reading

This is where audiobooks are golden. Want to escape the traffic on the highway, long waits for an appointment, or to pass the time while waiting for your kids game practice to get over? Maybe conditions aren't prime to crack open a book, or your e-reader device is on low battery.

Maybe you're not too sure about audio. If that's the case, I've made up a few reasons to give books on audio a try.

There you go. Loads of reasons to give audiobooks a try. And I have one more. I'll be picking one visitor today who leaves a comment below to win a free audio code for my small-town romance, Snow Belle.
Winner announced tomorrow night right here.

Their big dreams might cause them to lose everything-- including each other.
Haley Madison packed her big dreams and drove to the Arctic. Well, all right, so it’s Madison Creek, Michigan. But for a Texas gal, this frozen land ought to come with a sled and huskies. If it wasn’t for her family’s rundown property, she’d have stayed where the sun shone bright and warm. However, she has grand ideas for her inheritance even if the town has thrown up their objections to her plans.

Ethan Winters hated going home and admitting failure. Sure, he has a special talent with the violin, but he has bigger ambitions than playing at the local bowling alley. And then there was the idea of facing his father. No, he wasn’t ready to go home just yet. He veered off the interstate and drove to a little town named Madison Creek. Maybe his luck would change.

When the southern Snow-Belle literally blows him off the road with her rogue snowblower... more than just his luck will change.

    1. They can be a nice way to pass the time, and still enjoy a story.

  2. Great post with lots of good info! I have to admit, I've never even tried them. In college, I learned I'm not an audible learner (is that even a word). I had friends who could listen to the professor and totally get what he was saying. Not me. I had to read the book and take notes and listen or none of it stuck. I have shied away from audio books because I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy the book as much. But with the big push for it now days, I think I'm going to have to give it a try.

    1. Yeah, give it a try at least once. I'm kind of the same way, my mind drifts. But I bet if I was taking a long drive that I'd be able to keep my mind on the story.
Ha, sometimes my mind drifts even when I'm reading. I'm easily distracted by stuff. =)

  3. I love audiobooks. LOL and I've listened while doing all of your ideas except crafting. If I was a crafter though, I know I would listen then too. :)

  4. I'm thinking that would be a great time to put in an audio book. I do listen to podcasts while I'm working in the garden. Sometimes my mind wanders, but it's a great time to try to learn something new. =)

  5. I know lots of people who love audio books, but I'm not one. I'm too easily distracted. If I listened while a did housework, I'd be thinking about the stubborn spot on my floor that won't come rather than the plot of the story. I tried to listen to an audio book on a cross-country drive, but every time I had a traffic situation, I lost focus on the book. I'd much rather listen to music and leave the books for reading.

  6. I love using audiobooks for insomnia. When I'm too tired to read an actual book. I only have Sandra Owens audiobooks right now. The male narrator in many of her audiobooks, Sebastian York, has a sexy, very soothing voice.

    1. That's an idea I hadn't thought of. I try to read before going to bed and my eyes get so heavy...

  7. I love audiobooks and have several sources for them. I'm a long arm quilter and I often have one going while quilting. As an added bonus my whole family gets to listen along as I have to have it loud to hear over the machine. Haha. I often get my book club books on audio to listen to.
