Love.... By Christine Bush

Here comes the day when we hear a lot about love.  Or the lack of it.
Valentine’s Day.

I truly believe that love is what makes life worthwhile.  Being a romance writer, I write a lot about romantic love.  That’s one important kind of love.  But there are others.

Love for our families, our parents, kids, siblings.
Love for our friends, and family of choice.
Love for our pets, our neighbors, and people in general.

All kinds of love matter.

I have some friends who have the joy of celebrating long time marriages and relationships. Thirty years. Forty. Fifty plus.  I think this is awesome and admirable.  But it’s not my story.  The beginning of my life did not result in a “happily ever after”.  That was painful, but life goes on.  Some of you know what I am talking about.  We grow strong, reinvent ourselves, and cherish those other love relationships even more.

But sometimes, fate smiles, and after a long time, a new love appears.  Sometimes, the“best is saved for last.”  Later life relationships (while sometimes being family-complicated) can be joyful and exciting.  I found I had grown in wisdom, acceptance, and appreciation.  And trust.  And hope.
And at this late, great stage of life, I am very much in love.  And loved.

I’m finding it’s fun to write about older heroines, too, who find love in the second half of life. Do you enjoy this?  I’d love to hear your views. Love is amazing, no matter what stage of life it magically appears.

And I hope you have a happy, happy Valentine’s Day, celebrating love in all it’s forms!
