It sure doesn't seem like February here in the upper Midwest. I think of winter with a shiver, reminiscing about heavy snows, ice storms (see photo of our backyard a couple years ago), and the days the school bus could not make it up our country round...or the day our kids donned their ice skates and used that country road as a long, perfectly smooth ice rink.
But this January and February have been dry, with a few faint dustings of snow, temps hovering in the 30's to 40's and bright sunshine, It feels like spring! And it's also a very different sort of start to February, because my husband has retired.
As of February 1st, he is home for good...at least until he gets into the swing of things with possible volunteering and projects around the acreage. Or, perhaps, a part time job. On his first morning of freedom, he looked at me over breakfast and said he was already bored! So I don't think he will stay still for long. :) Have any of you been through the process of you or your spouse becoming retired? How did you cope with that huge change?

Best wishes to you all for a wonderful, cozy winter!

Congratulations to your husband on his retirement. When my parents retired, my mom was always driving my dad around to all the places he needed to go. They were so busy. And they would take drives to the beach and mountains. They treasured that time together.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like they had a wonderful time. They were blessed!
DeleteThat's great about your husband's retirement. I imagine it is a huge change! I know my grandfather always had a part-time job doing something he had fun with because he couldn't stand being bored. My dad would've been the same way.
ReplyDeleteIt's been pretty warm here in Texas this winter, too. We're supposed to have a high of 81 tomorrow!
81!! My goodness! I actually do love it chilly...but we sure haven't had as much of it as usual!
DeleteOur January was cold for this part of AZ and rainy. Now that February is here we are having lovely weather.
ReplyDeleteI don't think of Arizona as being rainy, but it is such an interesting state. Years I ago, I drove a truck and six horse trailer through a sandstorm and on the same trip, encountered snow up in Flagstaff!
DeleteOur January and February in SC has been pleasant, so no complaints here. Best wishes on your husband's retirement!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Josie!
