On Top of the Mountain by Merrillee Whren

My husband and I moved to Arizona over two years ago. We see this view every day from our back yard.
Mt. Lemmon is in the background. We have looked at the mountain the whole time we have been here, and we finally drove to the top a couple of weeks ago for a leadership retreat with our church. There are a lot of switchback roads that my stomach doesn't like, but the views are beautiful. Here are some more photos I took.
The one above was taken from the highest spot and looks down on the valley. You can see a ribbon of a road down below. It appears that there was a forest fire here at some time. The rest of the photos were taken on the way down the mountain at different points.

What does our trek up and down the mountain have to do with writing and romance? I liken it to the writing journey. The road often isn't straight, nor is it level. Romance can be the same way in fictional and real-life relationships. Our characters struggle with the ups and downs of a relationship, but they learn something about themselves in the end that makes them better people and able to find love.

Has there been a journey that has taught you a lesson in life?
