 This is a joyous little Christmas romance, like a Christmas cookie--YUMMY and then in the tummy. ;-)

Amber was a secondary character in a couple of Becky Wade's Porter Family series:

 UNDENIABLY YOURS, MEANT TO BE MINE,  A LOVE LIKE OURS,  HER ONE AND ONLY.


 I loved Amber, her story of triumph over adversity and this story is the pinnacle of that. If you've read the Porter Family series, you CANNOT miss this sweet holiday morsel.

Well, another great Becky Wade contemporary romance! My Stubborn Heart is another lively romance featuring a heroine who doesn't know how she attracts a larger than life hero, in this case: a world class hockey player.

I love Becky Wade's voice. Her light but endearing touch. Her ability to charm us with characters such as Velma and Morty and make us believe in them and enjoy them.

If you're looking for a fun, sweet, insightful and touching read, THIS SWEET ROMANCE is for YOU!

Here's another sweet romance by one of our Sweet Romance Reads Authors, Margaret Daley!

Margaret Daley is a friend, but that doesn't mean I can't write an honest review. So here goes! Recently Margaret reached a milestone-- her 70th book. WOW! This lady can write--and does!

This story in particular is part of the continuity series, "Alaskan Search and Rescue." Harlequin designs these multi-author series so each series has a theme and similar elements but each story is written about a different hero and heroine and by a different author.

Margaret's story in this contininuity concerns a single mom, her son and a very handsome search and rescue volunteer.

This book was not a nuanced as most of Margaret's romances are. I think that had to do with lining it up to go with the other stories and authors. (Each of these continuity series books follow a guide drawn up by the editors.)

However, it was not possible to escape caring about her heroine who'd escaped an abusive marriage or not to fall in love with Josiah, her hero. A solid read by an amazing author!

I'm here again to point you toward a Sweet Romance for the Holidays.

 Once again Author Winnie Griggs did not disappoint me. A very sweet holiday romance, set in Texas. This time we have a woman who has lived one decption and then another but a good man and ten orphans land on her doorstep and nothing in her life will ever be the same again! (Children have a way of changing things, don't they?)

 Ellen Pierce is the heroine, a widow who has felt cut off from the town after her husband's death. Simon Tucker is the hero who was merely helping a woman move her orphans to a new house. But the woman falls ill and he has to make some fast decisions and the first one is to ask the local church for help. And Ellen who has never thought of herself as motherly is suddenly mother of ten!

 I've come to depend on a sweet romance from Winnie and this is a good one about love and how it stretches one to do the impossible!

Lyn Cote Reviews Winnie Grigg's The Proper Wife

Here's another excellent sweet romance for you!

The Proper Wife by Winnie Griggs

This wasn't my first Winnie Griggs' Love Inspired Historical. Winnie appears to excel with stories where a free-spirited heroine meets an uptight hero or vice versa. This book is a story of the former romance. Sadie Lassiter is the free-spirited heroine and Eli Reynolds is the uptight hero.

Eli wants and thinks he needs to find a proper wife who will be a good step-aunt to the little sister in his care. And Sadie is not even on his long list much less his short list. She's too carefree and too casual and not the least interested in housekeeping.

Then a storm strands them together for a night and the gossips put their heads together. Eli's plans and Sadie's plans go out the window when Eli proposes marriage to avert scandal.

However, it seems that this marriage might be in God's plans for both of them.

A fun read with a delightful heroine who is a match for the very proper Mr. Reynolds!

Lyn Cote reviews Kathryn Springer's The Dandelion Field

Well, I've discovered another great sweet romance! 
And it's not often I give a book 5 COUNT 'EM Five stars! 

The Dandelion Field by Kathryn Springer

 My rating: 5 of 5 stars

 EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT book! But I wasn't surprised. I've enjoyed others by Kathryn Springer, a friend and fellow Wisconsin writer.

 The hero Dan and the heroine Gin both carry unhappy memories from the past. Gin's a single mom and Dan's still in love with the girl next door who married his best friend. These elements may sound familiar but not under Kathryn Springer's insightful pen.

 The other romantic couple causes the tension and drama--Raine and Cody, the girl from the wrong side of the tracks and the small town's golden boy. Again a seasoned romantic conflict but again, Kathryn makes the old song new. I rarely give 5 stars but The Dandelion Field deserved 5!

Lyn Cote Reviews A Rumored Engagement, a Regency romance

A Rumored Engagement by Lily George

A Rumored Engagment is the first book I've read by author Lily George, a relatively new Love Inspired Historical author. I am a real fan of Regency romance, having cut my teeth on Georgette Heyer's Regencies as a teen.

I enjoyed Ms. George's sweet tale. Her heroine Susannah Siddons was sympathetic, which means I liked her and wanted to read about her. And I found the situation a bit different from other Marriage of Convenience stories in that the hero left for the sea after the sham engagement.

I had some trouble warming up to her hero Daniel Hale. He seemed so immature compared to Susannah, but that was exactly the problem between them. Daniel had to face growing up. A coming of age tale for the hero is unusual. I also was intrigued with how Ms. George kept the story moving with just mundane village happenings. That's not easy.

However, the use of "'twas" was a real problem. It kept pulling me out of the story like a flat note. So I hope Ms. George will remove that from her "dictionary" before her next book. So would I recommend this read? Yes, if you enjoy Regency romance and a lively heroine.
