My Holiday Kickoff by Kimberly Rose Johnson

Last month I attended the ICVM Storytellers conference in Orlando Florida and brought my husband along so we could fold the trip into a vacation. Though we are no longer much for the rides, we enjoy the memories going to Disney parks brings to top of mind, so we scheduled a few days at Disney World.

We've been there a few times during the Christmas season, and I absolutely love looking at all the decorations. Isn't this beautiful?

This time around I didn't take nearly as many pictures as usual, but I noticed I took more pics outside the parks at the resorts we visited. I think I enjoyed visiting the various resorts as much or more than that actual parks. Check out these gingerbread creations. Aren't they incredible? The house literally had people selling merchandise from inside it.
This carousel reminded me of one I used to ride as a child. It was a tiny coin operated one outside a store my mom shopped at.

Animal Kingdom is not one of the parks we always make a point to go to, but we had a half day free on our travel day home, so we when there this time. The giraffes are my favorite. They were very close to our safari vehicle this time. I probably could have reached out and touched it if I dared, which I didn't.

Even though the parks were crazy crowded we still had a good time. We simply only spent about a half day at each park then resort hopped to see all the decorations. In case I missed saying so, the decorations are the biggest reason I enjoy going during the holiday season.

Do you have a favorite thing to do during the holiday season?

  1. We love attending the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's annual Yuletide concert. Lots of gorgeous decorations in the theater, lots of wonderful holiday music, and lots of love and fellowship.
