I visited
Albuquerque , New Mexico last month. (I rode an aerial
tram to the top of the Sandia
Mountains . What a
stunningly beautiful place! Please see the picture to the right.) I learned that the
stores in Albuquerque
charge 10¢ for each bag that is provided by the grocery story. I was very
pleased that businesses in the south west are strongly encouraging customers to
bring in their own bags. I am hoping businesses all over the country will soon
do the same.
Did you
know that there are some reusable bags that are made of recycled soda bottles?
I love these bags I found on Amazon. You can even find light-weight reusable produce bags. How do you feel about recycling, renewing, reusing? Would you
consider bringing your own reusable bags when you go shopping?

Hi Donna! Was visiting my cousin in Germany in 1996 and he was amazed I didn't have a reusable shopping bag. Since I often shop at Aldi, I always have reusable shopping bags in both cars. They are handy for all sorts of things. I have visited England, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland and Poland. Switzerland around Interlaken is beautiful. Small villages nestles on hillsides and crystal clear inland lakes with delightful hospitality and cuisine. Happy Holidays
ReplyDeleteHere in NYS, we are soon going to have to bring our own bags or pay for a paper bag. I've been using reusable bags for as while now.
ReplyDeleteDonna, As my daughter lives in Ireland, I've visited Europe many times and have gotten very accustomed to bringing my own grocery bags. Your books are wonderful. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteGermany and Colorado Springs and Lagouna Beach are all pretty places I do use reusable shopping bags my local grocery stores takes 5 cents off for each reusable bag used Beth R
ReplyDeleteMy reusable bags ride around in my car with me, but I almost always forget to take them into the store. ;(
ReplyDeleteI take reusable bags to the grocery store, which is most of my shopping. I leave them in my car, too.
ReplyDeleteI like reusabke bags more because they can put more in them. Less carrying for me! The problem is remembering to get them into the store.
ReplyDeleteThe bags made from recycled plastic are great. I didn't know they made them. I'm guilty of choosing reusable bags based on how they look, like because they have a pretty Eiffel Tower scene on them. I'll have to rethink my decision.
ReplyDeleteThe city in which I live mandates the businesses charge 5 cents per a paper bag, and plastic bags have been banned. We have been bringing out own bags to the grocery store and places like Target for years--long before this law came to be. It's a bit more challenging to remember to bring one to the mall though. When I go to the mall, I don't like to carry around an empty bag, and I don't have a cart to put it in.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t know that Jean!! Thanks!! I’ve got a bunch of material bags, so that won’t be an issue.
ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful place I’ve visited, besides my own property in the lower Catskills was when I was 3 and we went to Niagara Falls and Canada. I also loved Stowe & Waterbury VT which I visited as an adult. But the plastic bags didn’t play a part then. I actually “donate” my plastic ShopRite & Walmart bags to two church groups. Our own church does a free clothes giveaway on the third Saturday of the month, and another church has a thrift store. :)
