Blog Subject Reprise by Merrillee Whren

I have mentioned Pi Day in a previous post here on the Sweet Romance Reads blog, but I thought I should reprise that subject from last year. You can check out last year's post here. This year I'm going to give you new information about Pi Day and some ways you can celebrate.

How many of you remember from your math days what Pi is? No need to look it up. I'll tell you right here. It is the ratio of a circle's circumference to it's diameter. If you remember that from your school days, good for you. The ratio is rounded to 3.14. That is why Pi Day is March 14th.

Because pi and pie are homophones, lots of people celebrate Pi Day by eating pies of all kinds. You might check your area for local pizza deals and deals on dessert pies. You could read the book Life of Pi. Go for a walk of 3.14 miles.

Here are a couple of fun facts about Pi Day. It is also Albert Einstein's birthday. He was born on March 14, 1879. In 2015, a man from India recited 70,000 digits of Pi for a world record. It took him ten hours to recite them. Do you want to give it a try?

How would you like to celebrate Pi Day?

I'm going to celebrate Pi Day with a 99-cent sale on HOMETOWN PROMISE, the first book in my Kellersburg series.

You can find the book at these retailers.

  1. Hi Merrillee,
I am actually celebrating Pi Day today by ordering a pizza and fruit pie from my local grocery store. Thanks for the fun facts!

  3. I'd take a piece of pecan pie right now--with ice cream on top.
