What are your New Year’s resolutions?

As 2019 begins, many of us optimistically set our New Year’s resolutions. According to a YouGov poll, two of the most common resolutions for the coming year in the U.S. are to “eat healthier, and get more exercise.”

This year, my New Year’s resolutions are physical, mental, and spiritual.

Physically, I’m hoping to eat healthier, and eat less food overall. That means no junk food, and consuming lots of fruits and veggies. In addition, I walk 25 miles a week, which helps!

Spiritually, my goals will include daily journaling and meditation. Also, my husband and I are very active in our church.

Mentally, I’ll spend more time with the people who matter, volunteer often, and give more to charity.
Also, I’ll try new meditative exercises, and perhaps a different herbal tea. Research suggests a restful night’s sleep helps mentally and physically, and that finding time to read before bedtime is a great exercise for your brain. I couldn’t agree more!

What are your goals for 2019? Please leave your comments below.

  1. I have been doing intermittent fasting for a couple months. So far, I have been fasting 14 hours a day. Now I am increasing that to 15 hours with the plan to get to 16 hours eventually. Like you, I want to increase the fruits and vegetables.

    1. Fran,
I've heard about the fasting, but have never done this. I believe Dr. Oz talked about the benefits on one of his shows. Thanks for sharing!

    2. I fasted before. It can bring you closer to God in many ways.

  2. I haven't done any in years. I set goals throughout the year.

  4. I want to get closer to God. That's only resolution I have right now. It's too hard to keep any others.

  5. These are wonderful goals. I recommend matcha tea. I buy the kind in tea bags. I had tried the popular drink from a coffee shop, and when I bought some to make at home, I found that it dramatically improved the cold/cough that I had been dealing with. Now I drink it every day and haven't gotten sick anymore.
