Decisions…Decisions by Kristin Wallace

We make thousands of decisions every day. Some are small and others are life changing, like choosing a college, a job or getting married. I made a rather huge decision this week. I can’t say much about it yet, but suffice to say it is a good thing. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, but didn’t quite have the nerve to pull the trigger on until now. Then circumstances finally came together and the final decision came rather easily.

I am not an impulsive person. When I need to make a big decision I usually take a long time. I have to weigh my options, do research, look at the pros and cons. Once I make it I’m usually okay, but getting there is never easy. Part of it might be fear. I’m also not big on change. There is something frightening about stepping in to the unknown.

My author tagline is “love, laughter and a leap of faith”. It perfectly encapsulates my books, which are funny and romantic and explore what happens when people are forced out of their comfort zones. The leap of faith also refers to my faith. One of the big themes in my book is the idea of God having a plan for your life. That theme is woven through my stories in both subtle, and not-so-subtle, ways, but when it comes to living that truth, it’s not so easy. This week I took a page from my tagline and made the leap.

How do you make decisions? Are you impulsive? Or do make a careful analysis? What big decisions have you made lately, and how do you feel now that you’ve made them?

  1. Most of the time I carefully examine the possibilities before making a decision... but once in a while, I take a leap. Deciding to quit my day job and write full-time was one of the biggest leaps of faith I've taken and I'm grateful every day that I followed my heart. Great post, Kristin.

  2. I pray and weigh the pros and cons. When I don't, I regret it. And I try never to say never. That has come back to bite me.

  3. I'm a big have that discussion in my head person, especially if I know my decision will effect others.

  4. Wonderful post, Kristin! Thank you. For me, some decisions come easier than others, but it's certainly important to weigh the big ones carefully. Best wishes to you with your new "leap"!

  5. Can't wait to hear all about your new journey, Kristin! Sometimes the hardest part is just making the decision. Once you come to that, the way seems clear.

    1. I'll be glad to talk about it more when it's time. Yes, the decision is the hardest part. Once the leap is made the jitters just disappear.

  6. I take a long time to make important decisions as well. I like to have all the facts to judge a choice but sometimes there are unknown factors and I have to trust in my judgement. Often we only know if a choice was right when we look back.
