Bargain Books!

As an author, I do have my favorite titles. Crowning Glory is #1. Now until Thursday, readers can download this Christian romance for .99. Get ready to laugh, cry, and fall in love!

Cinderella had a prince; Karyn Wallace has a King.

While Karyn served four years in prison for an unthinkable crime, she embraced salvation through Crowns for Christ outreach ministry. After her release, Karyn stays strong and confident, despite the stigma society places on ex-offenders. Since Christ strengthens the underdog, Karyn refuses to sway away from the scripture, “He whom the Son has set free is free indeed.”

Levi Tolliver, for the most part, is a practicing Christian. One contradiction is he doesn’t believe in turning the other cheek. He’s steadfast there is a price to pay for every sin committed, especially after the untimely death of his wife during a robbery. Then Karyn enters Levi’s life. He is enthralled not only with her beauty but her sweet spirit until he learns about her incarceration. If Levi can accept that Christ paid Karyn’s debt in full, then a treasure awaits him.

The other books in the Restore My Soul series is:
Book 2: JET (short story)
Book 3: LOVE LED BY THE SPIRIT (novel)

Montana Mistletoe...and a free book. Roxanne Rustand

Happy November!

Every year, I look ahead to this time of year--the kaleidoscope of fall colors, the fun of seeing our grandkids Trick or Treat, then after that the days seem to speed up and it's suddenly Thanksgiving and then Christmas, before I can scarcely catch my breath.  Does the time seem to speed by faster and faster for you, too?

This year the holiday mood struck a bit quicker though, because I have a November Love Inspired release, MONTANA MISTLETOE.  When my boxes of advance author copies arrived on my doorstep last month, with pretty and festive cover art, it jarred me into earlier holiday planning than ever before!
Pssst...if you leave a comment, you will be in a drawing for a free e-copy of that book.  :)

I love planning holiday menus and figuring out who can join us.  It's wonderful having a crowd, and I love to cook!  Do you? Do you have favorites that you make every year? It is not Thanksgiving at our house, without my mom's buttery sage dressing. :)  And pies.  Lots and LOTS of pies!

Have you started any holiday preparations yet? Meal planning, Christmas shopping, writing Christmas cards?  Millennials don't seem to be on the same page as the older generations...so I wonder if Christmas cards will eventually become a thing of the past. Maybe they already are...we see far more family photos instead.  But that's always a delight, getting to see the littler relatives growing up!

I would love to hear about the plans you have for the upcoming holidays!

It's November - Pumpkin Roll Time by @DonnaFaz #Recipes

November brings cool, crisp temperatures, gorgeous colorful leaves, delicious family feasts, and Pumpkin Roll! My family goes crazy for Pumpkin Roll. In this Pumpkin Roll recipe, I use a ready-made spice blend that includes cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and allspice… all the tastes that celebrate autumn.

Pumpkin Roll

Ingredients for the Pumpkin Roll cake:

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice blend
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup canned pumpkin

Ingredients for the Pumpkin Roll filling:
1 package 8oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
4 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
More powdered sugar for garnish if desired

Instructions:
1. For cake: Preheat oven to 375° F. Grease a 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan; line with parchment paper. Allow 2-inches of overhang on the 15-inch sides of the pan for easy removal. Spray the parchment with baking spray so it will peel off the cake.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, spice mix, and salt in small bowl. Beat eggs and the white and brown sugars in larger mixer bowl until thick. Beat in pumpkin. Gently stir in flour mixture. Spread evenly into prepared pan.
3. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until top of cake springs back when lightly touched. Immediately loosen and turn cake onto a clean, dry cotton towel. Carefully peel off paper. Roll up cake and towel together, starting with narrow end. Cool on wire rack.
4. For filling: Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla in small mixer bowl until smooth.
5. Carefully unroll cooled cake; remove towel. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over cake. Re-roll cake. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate Pumpkin Roll at least four hours. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Did you know today is National Deviled Egg Day? Who knew?
I've never been much of a fan of eggs, so I pass on the Deviled eggs whenever they're on a potluck table.

But I love Christmas. It has always been my favorite holiday. It's a time to celebrate my savior's birth, spend time with family, and think about what's important in life. I love the lights on the trees and houses and having family gathered together to share a big meal and lots of gifts.

I'm also a fan of Christmas novellas and have written a number of them. Here one that recently released:

Old West Christmas Brides

Christmas Romances Filled with the Spirit of the Old West

It is hard for a woman to make a decent living in the Wild West of the late 1800s, and as the Christmas season approaches, prospects for a happy celebration seem dim.

Here's what my story is about:

Unexpected Blessings
by Vickie McDonough

Anna Campbell sets out to deliver two small orphans to their uncle in Texas during December of 1880. Erik Olson knows it’s impossible for those cute little pests to be his brother’s and refuses to accept them—regardless of Anna’s persistence. Little do they know that behind the scenes, Erik’s Uncle Lars and his buddies are doing a little matchmaking, hoping to give the children a father and a mother.

If you'd like to snag a copy, click here.

Here are some of the other Christmas collections I've been privileged to be a part of. Some of these are older and may be hard to find, but you have options if you're looking for a sweet Christmas read.

So how about you? Do you love Christmas? Or is another holiday your favorite? Do you enjoy reading Christmas romances?

Lyn Cote Reviews Roxanne Rustand's Montana Mistletoe

Montana Mistletoe (Love Inspired)
Montana Mistletoe by Roxanne Rustand My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'll say right up front that Roxanne Rustand is a dear friend. But as always if I don't enjoy a book by a friend, I just don't review it. Not every book is for every reader--even those by a friend. But this book was for me. And it was quintessential Roxanne Rustand. A book set on a Western ranch with lively characters that nearly leap off the page.

Roxanne delights in creating a family of great characters with sometimes harsh backstories. As usual, by the time the couple wakes up to the fact that they are ready to love each other, we are all smiling.

I loved the cover because the model of the heroine actually resembled Roxanne's daughter! I also loved it that Harlequin put it out in True Large Print so much easier for my tired eyes. So if you are looking for a sweet inspirational holiday Western romance, this book's for you too!
