15 Feel Good New Year's Resolutions by Donna Fasano

Many people make promises to themselves to ring in the New Year, but we seldom keep them for very long. Reevaluating your life is hard stuff! Here’s a list of resolutions that will make you feel better, physically and mentally. These suggestions aren’t that difficult and are sure to make you a happier person.

1.     Practice anonymous random acts of kindness.
2.     Make at least one person smile each day.
3.     Read at least one book each month. (Don’t forget to review it. The author will SMILE! See resolution #2.)
4.     Go someplace you’ve never been.
5.     Be kinder to yourself.
6.     Be kinder to others.
7.     Be quick to listen, slow to speak.
8.     Take the stairs. It’s good for you.
9.     Let go of old hurts and grudges.
10.  Forgive.
11.  Try a new hobby.
12.   Donate all clothing you haven’t worn in a year.
13.   Start and end each day consciously feeling happy and grateful.
14.   Buy less plastic. It’s bad for our planet.
15.   Stay in touch with the people who matter.

What resolution would you add to the list?

I have 2 sweet romances that sell for 99¢. I hope you’ll try them.

About Those New Year's Resolutions ... by Jean C. Gordon

How are you doing with your New Year's resolutions? According to a Nielson survey, on average, only 64% of you are still keeping them (the percentage of people who last more than a month). Fewer than half (40%) of people's resolutions will still be in place come July 1. And only 14% of people over 50 actually achieve what they resolve to do. Younger people fare better, with 39% reporting success with their resolutions.

But back to my question. I'm doing great with my resolutions because I didn't make any. Instead, as I've done the past few years with an online group of writers and readers I belong to, I chose a word for the year. My word is:

Not making any resolutions doesn't mean I don't plan. Incorporating my word for the year in my author planning, here's what I'm going to enjoy in my writing life in 2018:
  • Finishing Sweet Entanglement, the book I'm currently working on for the multi-author Indigo Bay series. It will be released early summer.
  • Putting together a new book proposal for Love Inspired, set in the Catskill Mountains.
  • Writing a single dad novella for a multi-author book bundle that will be out in the fall.
  • Adding to my Team Macachek series, with a Christmas novella.
In my personal life, I'm enjoying my family, my friends, and my volunteer work to the fullest. I'll also be enjoying a milestone birthday this year, but I won't say what one.

And on the immediate horizon, I'll be enjoying the Sweet Romance Reads Cafe's Valentine's Party on Facebook tomorrow. Catch me there hosting from two to three.

According to StatisticBrain.com, the top 10 New Year’s Resolutions are:

1.     Losing weight
2.     Getting organized
3.     Spend less, save more
4.     Enjoy life
5.     Get fit, stay fit
6.     Learn something new
7.     Quit smoking
8.     Help others
9.     Fall in love
10. Spend more time with family

I am so such a failure when it comes to resolutions that I decided not to make any this year. Did you? If so, what’s YOUR New Year’s Resolution?
