Happy Mother's Day by Merrillee Whren

Today we celebrate mothers. My mom has been gone for forty years. She died much too young from a car accident. Here is a photo of her as a young woman. She loved God and was an inspiration to many.

I wrote my book, Country Blessings, not long after my mother's passing as a catharsis. My heroine in that story is returning home for her mother's funeral. The rest of the story doesn't resemble my life at all, but writing that story so many years ago was a release of a lot of emotions. It took many years after I wrote the book for it to be published, first by Harlequin Love Inspired, as Mommy's Hometown Hero, then as an indie reissue under its current title, Country Blessings.

Country Blessings is the second book in my Dalton Brothers series. Three brothers. Three different locations. Three stories of self-reflection. You can find buy links on my website

Whether your mother is still living or not, celebrate her today. What is your favorite memory of your mother?
