It’s that beautiful time of year. Flowers are blooming, the sun is shining!
It’s Easter Time!
Besides being such an important holiday religiously for
many, Easter is a time of fun. Our
family has a lot of traditions at this time.
Egg decorating.
Easter clothes.
AND… our annual Easter Egg hung. Spearheaded by two of my daughters, eggs are filled with candy, toys, and cold
hard cash. This year there were over 600
colorful eggs, and 32 excited children.
We use the term children loosely, as all the grands are invited to take
part, no matter how old (and mature in some ways) they may be. On Egg Day, they are all kids. No matter the weather!
Eggs scattered through a very large lawn and garden area,
the scene is set. There are rules.
“Kids” line up in age order. Those under three get an adult
helper. When the “GO” commands comes,
these toddlers get head start. A minute
later, “Go FIVE” releases the next group.
Then “Go 10”, Then a free for all for the “large” kids. So far, we’ve
included “Kids” up to age 22. It started with grandkids and cousins. Now it includes close neighbors and friends. The more the merrier.
It’s total, hilarious chaos.
And it goes quickly.
Then they all sit on the driveway, opening their stash. They trade, count, gloat, and share and take
pictures.
The empty eggs are all collected into the egg bin, to be
used next year.
How about you? Any spring holiday traditions that make the
season special? I’d love to know!
