Collecting Christmas by Alicia Street

One of the things I love about the Christmas season is opening up boxes of figurines I have collected over many years. Some belonged to my mother and I still remember my excitement as a child taking them out and finding just the right place to put them as we decorated the house for the holiday.

One of my treasures is a music box Santa that my mother-in-law gave me when we first met, another is a glittery ceramic snowman that my sister made when we were in grade school. I have a vintage angel that belonged to my grandmother. And miniature carolers that remind me of a trip I took with my husband.

Seeing each figurine year after year is like running into an old friend, each one bringing back precious memories of Christmases past that make the holiday burn bright in my heart.

Do you have a collection of treasures that you return to each year?

Today is the last day that my short and sweet romance

  1. Alicia, your keepsakes are lovely. I have a ceramic nativity set that my mother and I made thirty years ago. I bring the nativity set out every Christmas. Such wonderful memories!
