But..
Sometimes not. We’ve all heard or even experienced hard things
that shake us to the core.. there are things like loss, grief, and illness.
Facing them takes courage. Often we have no choice.
But there are other kinds of courage that can be a challenge
for me, and maybe for you. Sometimes it also takes
courage to face GOOD changes.
This includes the courage to commit to a new relationship,
even if your heart has been broken before.
It includes the decision to move or to buy a new house.
Or to say yes to the dress.
I am a writer. I am facing
that “courage dilemma” right now. I am
starting a new book. I’ve made notes, plotted,
planned, developed characters, and I’m ready to write.
Kind of.... Gulp.
Staring at the blank page, the self- doubts roil in my
brain. It doesn’t matter that this is book #21, or that other books have won
awards and garnered nice reviews. I feel fear.
Can I do it? Will it
be good enough? What if the words don’t come? What if I’m all “written out?”
This will be the first book in a new series,
full of mystery, love, and laughter. Or
will it? I’ve had these doubts when beginning every single book.
It’s time for me to face this, and summon the courage to go
forth.
And so I will. Here comes page one!
How about you? What
takes courage in your life? Who
encourages you? What kind of hurdles have
you faced with that indomitable spirit that gives us courage? Please share.. Your courage inspires us all! Together we can do what we can never do alone!

DeleteCourage that I make a right decision on a dilemma. As you said, we have to do that often in our life.
ReplyDeleteYes!We do!
DeleteIn the past few years we have done a lot of travel, much of it overseas. With every trip, I feel a little anxiety as I prepare to travel. The trips have all turned out to be wonderful. I don't know why I even worried.
