When Life Takes Courage..... by Christine Bush

Sometimes life just flows along, day by day… no major changes, no major hurdles. Easy.

Sometimes not. We’ve all heard or even experienced hard things that shake us to the core.. there are things like loss, grief, and illness. Facing them takes courage. Often we have no choice.

But there are other kinds of courage that can be a challenge for me, and maybe for you.  Sometimes it also takes courage to face GOOD changes.

This includes the courage to commit to a new relationship, even if your heart has been broken before.

It includes the decision to move or to buy a new house.

Or to get a pet.   Or pets.

Or to take a new job or start a new business.

Or to say yes to the dress.
We have to believe in ourselves to have the courage make these decisions and to do these things.

I am a writer.  I am facing that “courage dilemma” right now.  I am starting a new book.  I’ve made notes, plotted, planned, developed characters, and I’m ready to write.

Kind of.... Gulp.

Staring at the blank page, the self- doubts roil in my brain. It doesn’t matter that this is book #21, or that other books have won awards and garnered nice reviews. I feel fear.
Can I do it?  Will it be good enough? What if the words don’t come? What if I’m all “written out?”
This will be the first book in a new series, full of mystery, love, and laughter.  Or will it? I’ve had these doubts when beginning every single book.
It’s time for me to face this, and summon the courage to go forth.
And so I will. Here comes page one!
How about you?  What takes courage in your life?  Who encourages you?  What kind of hurdles have you faced with that indomitable spirit that gives us courage?  Please share.. Your courage inspires us all! Together we can do what we can never do alone!
Christine Bush is the award winning author of many books of romance, romantic mystery, women's suspense, and middle grade fiction.
When she's not writing (or struggling over page one), she can be found having fun with her 12 grandchildren, teaching psychology at a local college, or working with clients in her private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist.
She LOVES to hear from readers, and authors, published or aspiring!

Christine's latest book, a romantic suspense titled  “Almost Anonymous” was released in April.

  1. Take courage, Christine. You can do it! :)

  2. IF you have 12 grandchildren--you have courage enough!

  3. Summoning courage when needed can sometimes be a challenge. I'm sure your new series will be great, Christine!

  4. Courage that I make a right decision on a dilemma. As you said, we have to do that often in our life.

  5. In the past few years we have done a lot of travel, much of it overseas. With every trip, I feel a little anxiety as I prepare to travel. The trips have all turned out to be wonderful. I don't know why I even worried.
