The story centers on soon-to-be-single mother, Cassie Stephens, who decides to take a little holiday vacation before her baby is born. She chooses the sleepy town of Shellwater Key, Florida for her retreat. Then her reservation is lost. Fortunately, sexy, single innkeeper Jared Latham offers to let Cassie stay with him and his young daughter. Now that is a delicious Christmas present.
When I set out
to determine an idea for a new Christmas story, I began toying with the notion
of writing a modern day “First Christmas” tale. The phrase “no
room at the inn” kept ringing in my head. It wasn’t long before Cassie emerged. Then I had to
create a supporting cast with names suspiciously similar to those that appear
in the Nativity story.
-Amelia Lamb, a widow & retired
labor/delivery nurse
-Rick & Juliet Shepherd, a long-time
married couple
-Henry “King” Stuart, a successful auto
dealership owner (His catch phrase is “The King of the Deal”)
The staff at the
inn also carries the theme, with Chef Gabrielle
Velazquez (yep I made a female archangel) and her father Jésus. (Pronounced “Hey-sus” for my
gringo friends).
I already had the perfect setting thanks to my Shellwater Key Tales series, and the hero Jared actually made his first appearance in my upcoming release "Straight On Toward Paradise", which will be out in January.
Hey, I thought you might like to see what Cassie & Jared look like! These two come close to what I pictured in my head when I was writing the book.
