I love
everything about Christmas. But one of my favorite things is watching Christmas
movies. There are special ones that I absolutely must see every year.
Like
the old black-and-white version of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. (Of course I’ve also read it and have an
illustrated copy that I bring out this season along with my Nutcracker and
Twelve Days of Christmas pop-up books.)
Then
there are the silly, fun musicals, like Holiday
Inn and White Christmas, and Babes in
Toyland. And the romances and comedies: It’s
a Wonderful Life, Miracle on
Thirty-fourth Street, Christmas in Connecticut, Home Alone, Elf—I could go
on for pages.
Many
I’ve been watching yearly since I was a kid. Others I’ve added to my wish list
of any new flicks that deserve to be seen over and over.
But
that’s one of my problems…my husband has seen them all so many times that he
likes to tease me by calling out lines before the actors do! I’ve tried several
solutions to stop him from doing this, and the best seems to be keeping his
mouth occupied with popcorn or pie or Christmas cookies. J
Wishing
everyone a wonderful holiday! What holiday movies are your favorites?

Fun post, Alicia. Maybe Santa will bring you a remote control with a hubby-mute button. A new favorite Christmas movie for me this year is The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young. Yep--new favorite, old movie. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that movie, Magdalena. A hubby-mute . . . great idea!
DeleteI'm a Christmas Story gal. Love to cook with it on the TV
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one, Melinda. My sister's a kitchen-watcher, too.
DeleteI like White Christmas, but I buy a few Lifetime/Hallmark movies every year too.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Shaleen. And ditto on the Lifetime/Hallmark movies.
DeleteThose are all favorites of mine, too, Alicia, especially the old black and white ones. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Patricia!
DeleteI have The Christmas Story. It reminds me of my childhood. So funny.

DeleteReturning to childhood memories is one of the best things about this season.
DeleteI love Christmas movies, both the classics and the ones that are new. For feature films, I count "Love Actually" and "The Holiday" among my annual must-sees. I also love discovering new television movies each year. What a great way to get in a holiday mood!
