Happy Valentine's Day

Today is not only Valentine's Day, but it is my 49th wedding anniversary. I can hardly believe my husband and I have been married that long. We were married on Valentine's Day because it happened to be the Saturday before Presidents' Day back in 1976. I was a school teacher and had that following Monday off. So it was one less day I would miss from school while we were on our honeymoon. As it turned out, I resigned my teaching position because my husband lived in a small town about fifty miles from my school, and I discovered that fifty miles was too far to drive even for a few months until the end of the school year.

My Kellersburg series was inspired by the small Ohio towns we lived in when we were first married. You can check out the books in the series by clicking right here

Beyond Red Roses: Finding Real Romance in February by Josie Riviera

Let's be honest—Valentine's Day can be tricky. While store windows overflow with hearts and candy, real romance often looks different from those picture-perfect cards and commercials.

Some of my favorite love stories are wonderfully ordinary. The couple who still holds hands after forty years of marriage. The grandmother who bakes heart-shaped cookies with her grandkids every February. The sisters who've made Valentine's Day their annual movie marathon tradition, complete with popcorn and fuzzy socks.

These real-life moments remind me why I love a good romance story. Not for the grand gestures, but for the authentic connections—the kind that make you smile and remind you that love comes in many forms.

Looking for some heartwarming stories this February? Treat yourself to Valentine Hearts, a collection of four sweet romances that capture the magic of finding love when you least expect it. It's like having a box of chocolates, but instead of finishing them too quickly, you can savor each story one at a time.

This Valentine's Day, celebrate love your way—whether that's with a romantic dinner, a good book, or simply calling someone special to say "I care."

What's your favorite way to celebrate February 14th?

Our Kitty Investigated!

Lyn Cote here~Well, it’s winter in the northwoods of WI you know. And we’ve been having some cold brrr temps (who knew??’-) I’ve been keeping our bedroom closet door shut because the attic trap door is in the closet. And there is often a draft from it in the coldest weather.

So I was surprised when our cat Lovey decided to position himself at the door with his nose at the crack at the bottom of the floor. I open the door and oops, there was a puddle in the middle of the closet floor! Evidently the cool air has been coming down and the world warm air had been going up! And it resulted in condensation. Sigh…

So now, my dear husband insulated a new trap door, and yesterday he had to scoop out all the wet insulation and dispose of it. He has put up some of those pink insulating boards, but later in the spring, we will have somebody come and blow in another layer of insulation, which we've been meaning to do for a long time.

So the cat saved us a bigger mess than we had! And I'm taking the opportunity to sort all the baskets of stuff that were sitting on the shelves that I hadn't looked at for a couple years. Goodwill here we come!

So that's been the beginning of our new year. I hope yours is going well.

I enjoyed the holidays, especially an evening music concert on the 22nd at our church. Beautiful music and so lovely to see all the decorations. But I'm very happy just getting back to sort of normal.

:-)

My new historical novel came out on January 14 and I hope you will take a look at this Lone Star Courage series. If you're interested in history, and a sweet romance where a very deserving couple find their happily ever after, Trusting His Love is for you. My next 2025 book to come out will be another historical. It will be the first in another series where I weave imaginary characters through authentic history, bringing the time, place and its conflicts alive! Talk to you in February—Lyn

Must Love Dogs - New Release by Laura Scott

Good morning from Laura Scott!

I'm posting a little later than usual because I've been swamped with deadlines. But I wanted to drop by to let you know about my new release that comes out on Tuesday of next week.

At the end of December I mentioned that I'm kicking off a new series this year. The first book of my Sullivan K9 Search and Rescue series is Scent of Danger which released in early January. I have the second book Scent of Panic coming out in February. I'm super excited about this new series. I've always loved dogs so writing about these wonderful K9s has been so much fun!

In this book, Chase's K9 Rocky is a Norwegian Elkhound who has a mind of his own. Chase and Rocky often fight for the alpha spot in their relationship and Rocky wins that battle more often than not. But Rocky is also an amazing tracker who gets the job done.

If you love dogs, then I think you will enjoy this new K9 series!

Scent of Panic by Laura Scott $3.99

From USA Today Bestselling Author Laura Scott

Search and rescue and love…

Searching for the son he didn’t know he had…

When tribal accountant Wynona Blackhorse realizes her son has been kidnapped, she has little choice but to call the only man who can find him. Her son’s father, Chase Sullivan. She’s willing to face the consequences, knowing nothing is more important than finding her four-year-old-son.

Chase Sullivan is furious with Wynona for keeping his son a secret, but all that matters now is doing everything possible to find the little boy. Chase knows his K9 Rocky is an excellent tracker, but the Wind River reservation is large and desolate. As he and Wynona follow clues as to where Eli has been, the case grows more convoluted. Time is not on their side. Will taking down the kidnappers bring Chase and Wynona closer together? Or tear them apart, forever?

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Not Snow by Pat Simmons

I'm a Midwest girl. Cold weather is in my DNA. Born in St. Louis, I graduated college in Boston. The following year, I purchased my first car in 1982. Gas at the pump was .25 cents a gallon. Boy, I'm aging myself, but in January 1982, I remember the 13.9 inches of snow that fell in 24 hours. It paralyzed the city. Nothing could move, and all I thought about was getting Crystal home That's what I named my first car,  even my friends remember Crystal.
It nearly happened again one week into the new year. Parts of St. Louis endured anywhere from 8.5 inches to more than 14 inches of snow. We experienced thundersnow, a rare phenomenon (an indicator that heavy snow was coming), and then God added sleet to the mix.
We were in trouble. Public buses were getting stuck along with trash trucks and other heavy equipment.
I love to admire snow but not drive in it and to help neighbors dig out. I love it.
Snow piles were everywhere when we were hit with single-digit temperatures and below-zero wind chills. Why do I feel like a meteorologist? But seriously, I didn't expect 13 inches of snow to be dumped in New Orleans. Other states experienced winter weather; some parts of Florida received 10 inches. Yikes. At least St. Louis has snow plows and road treatment. My husband even purchased a snow blower to prepare for the next snow, which probably won't happen now.
Stay safe wherever you live, and let's compare notes on our weather in February.
