March is finally here! by Josie Riviera

March is an odd month, weather-wise. One day it's sunny and warm, and the next you're searching for your winter coat again. But after the long winter, I'll take it. At least the daylight hours are getting longer (thank goodness for Daylight Savings Time), and the first tiny flowers are poking through the ground. Daffodils, and soon, Bradford Pear blossoms, as well as Redbud trees.

Down here in the Carolinas, we get a much earlier spring than what we used to get when I lived in upstate New York.

Of course, March also means St. Patrick's Day. Whether you're Irish or not, it's a fun excuse to wear green and maybe grab an "Irish" lunch with friends. Plus, my favorite fast food restaurant sells those addictive Shamrock Shakes - I'm not saying I have one every week, but I'm not saying I haven't either. :)

A Whimsical Irish Love Story by Josie Riviera

Many of you may know that my daughter lives in Ireland, and I love writing Irish stories, using beautiful Ireland as the background.

Well, Ireland has a little something special up its sleeve that I didn’t know about until recently—the Puck Fair and the goat monarch! You assumed that Ireland was all about St. Patrick's day, but there's more...

So, I wanted to share this fun and whimsy event with you.

There’s a town in County Kerry where a wild mountain goat gets crowned as the "King of the Fair."

Yes, really! This quirky tradition is centuries old!

After the “crowning” of the goat, the Puck Fair turns into a party zone with pubs opening, and soon the streets become an outdoor dance floor.

Delicious street food is also served, and who doesn't love street food? If you haven’t had a plate of mouthwatering boxty or warm, gooey Irish stew, then this is the place to visit.

So, whether you're enjoying the view from the Cliffs of Moher or exchanging Claddagh rings, or crowning a mountain goat, may the spirit of Ireland inspire you this March.

Sláinte to love and the Emerald Isle!

If you love sweet Irish romance, and enjoyed watching The Dating Gane on television, this be sure to pick up a copy of my sweet Irish romance, Maeve.

Here's a short description:

He’s all business. She loves to laugh. When business conflicts with pleasure, what can possibly go wrong?

When the opportunity arises for Maeve to enjoy a week on the picturesque island of Corsica, thanks to Perfect Match, she can't resist. Although she's labeled herself as a workaholic on her dating profile, she hopes her match will share the same mindset. Little does she know that her journey will lead to more than she bargained for.

Enter Edward Newell, a no-nonsense businessman with one goal in mind: finding the perfect location for his successful hotel chain. Love and romance are the furthest things from his mind. However, when he crosses paths with the beautiful Maeve, sparks fly and their worlds collide in unexpected ways. As their connection deepens, they find themselves torn between their growing feelings and the demands of their individual lives.

Maeve combines beach island romance, opposites attract, and the intriguing allure of a billionaire. Follow Maeve and Edward as they navigate the complexities of their blossoming relationship against the backdrop of Corsica's stunning shores. Will they overcome the challenges when business conflicts with pleasure, or will their hearts be left broken?

This sweet and engaging romance is perfect for fans of Irish love stories and tales that celebrate the power of second chances. Join Maeve and Edward and discover if a chance encounter on an island can lead to a love that will last a lifetime.

Fun Irish Sayings- by Josie Riviera

In March, many people focus on St. Patrick's Day. My daughter lives in Ireland, and she's become accustomed to using many fun Irish sayings.

Here is a sampling:

"About Ye!" --- How are you?

"What's the craic?" --- What's going on? This term also means great fun and is used constantly.

"Such a dose." --- What an idiot.

"Shall we go for a dander?" --- Shall we go for a stroll?

"Full so she was." --- She was drunk.

Do you know any Irish saying? Please share in the comments below.

It's a 99 cent Kindle Countdown sale for my sweet Irish romance, Maeve.

The Beauty of Everything Irish by Josie Riviera

March has arrived, and the renewal of Spring is upon us. It's time to look forward to things turning green--flowers blooming, birds singing, and everything Irish as we approach St. Patrick's Day.
I frequently set my books in Ireland, as my daughter lives there. As a sweet romance writer, I find Ireland to be a wonderful setting. The country is known as the Emerald Isle for the incredible landscape, a patchwork of shades of green. Full of history, tradition, kind-hearted people, the location lends itself to the sweetness of life. The Cliffs of Mohar soar 700 feet above the Atlantic.

Enjoy windswept cliff walks where you will pass fields of sheep and cows, while the waves crash below. Or, the quaint village of Adare, which is touted as "the prettiest village in Ireland." In County Limerick, Adare is filled with thatched-roofed and ivy-covered cottages. Adorable cafes and pubs provide local fare locals and tourists alike.

If a castle is more your styles, Ashford Castle is located in County May. This 350 acre estate, once owned by the Guinness Brewing family, is often voted one of the world's best 5-star hotels. When the time is right, I hope you can explore Ireland in person. For now, a virtual trip for St. Patrick's Day is the next best thing.

Have you ever visited Ireland? Please leave your comments below.

Maeve, my sweet contemporary "Irish" romance, is 99¢ on a US Kindle Countdown, and perfect for St. Patrick's Day.
