FINAL REFUGE, a new romantic suspense novel, Christmas novellas, and drawing for a FREE BOOK Roxanne Rustand

I'm so happy to announce my new inspirational romantic suspense release,  FINAL REFUGE.   Here's a quick blurb:

Erin hopes she has found peace at last in a remote mountain town...until an intruder breaks in, but takes nothing.  Is this yet another warning from her best friend's killer?

DON'T TELL. He had taunted her for five long years with anonymous, untraceable warnings on the anniversary of her friend's rape and murder, but then the messages stopped.  She'd heard the leading suspect was dead. Maybe. But if he has found her again will he finally finish what he started so long ago?

And what's with the handsome guy who has moved into the cabin next door? He seems so nice and thoughtful...but is he the very threat she fears?     For more information or to buy, CLICK HERE.

FINAL REFUGE is the first in my five-book Montana Secrets romantic suspense series.  Final Chance will be out on November 28th, and the rest, Final Pursuit, Final Escape, and Final Witness, will be published by mid-spring. All are stand-alone, full-length novels and can be read in any order.

Are you enjoying a beautiful fall where you live? Here is a family favorite recipe, in celebration of the arrival of the autumn colors in our part of the Midwest. My favorite season!  My mom made this recipe often while I was growing up.

ARLINE'S AUTUMN SOUP

1 1/2  pounds lean ground beef, browned and drained
1 large yellow onion chopped and browned lightly with the beef
1 quart water
4 large carrots, sliced
3 celery stalks, sliced
1 cup cubed red potatoes
2 tsp salt (to taste)
1/2 tsp pepper (to taste)
2 tsp browning sauce
1 whole bay leaf
1/4 to 1/2 tsp dried basil (to taste)
28 oz can stewed tomatoes (broken up)

Combine ingredients and bring to a boil, then simmer for 20-30 min. Add seasonings to taste. A splash of soy sauce can add a nice, rich flavor.

So good with whole-grain, homemade bread, and a salad.

Words Have Teeth by Kimberly Rose Johnson

As a fiction writer, I’m keenly aware of the power of words. They can make us feel happy, sad, angry, excited, loved. Pretty much any emotion out there can be created through words.

Words also have teeth. Some words nibble and others cut deep. Have you ever said something and immediately wished you could take back?

Something similar happened to Jenna in my latest romantic suspense, Imminent Threat, when she lost her temper at work. She vented about a client. Someone secretly recorded it, and then uploaded it to the internet where it went viral. Yikes!

Can you imagine thinking you’re in a safe place to express yourself, when suddenly your world is turned upside down, and now no place is safe? That’s what happened to Jenna.

Once upon a time I worked at a high school. While I was there, I observed that students often had their phones out recording one another without the other person being aware they were being recorded. In a way I think my idea for this aspect of the story percolated out of my experience at the high school.

I’m reminded of a childhood song with the line be careful little mouth with you say. Do you remember that one? It’s funny how those childhood truths still ring true into adulthood.

Here’s the back cover blurb for Imminent Threat.

When one bad decision changes the course of her life, Jenna must seek protection from a surprising source.

The Protection Inc. team is growing, and so is their client list. Former cop and new team member, Peter King, seeks to solve the mystery surrounding threatening notes being sent to Jenna Walsh.

Facing an uncertain future, Jenna is afraid for her life. Will the team at Protection Inc., specifically Peter, be able to stop the threats before things escalate, or will tragedy strike before Peter is willing to face his growing attraction to Jenna?

The team must divide and conquer when two big cases present themselves at the same time. Carissa Jones and Marc Olsen work to protect a young college student who is staying in the home of a federal judge. All work and no play has put a strain on their relationship. Can they find balance or will their fragile bond be extinguished?

Join the Protection Inc. team as they face one challenge after another, including challenges of the heart.

Available at Amazon.

Winter is the Perfect Season for ... by Liwen Y. Ho

I know we're still celebrating fall, but I can't help but look forward to the next season. There are so many great things I love about winter, such as the beautiful decor and getting together with family and friends. What's another thing that winter is the perfect season for? Curling up with a good book. And what's better than one book? Getting six of them for the price of one!

If you love books about winter, you're in for a treat. I'm thrilled to be part of this novella collection of Christian romance stories all set in the winter season. Winter's Kiss will be releasing November 7th, but you can pre-order it today for only 99 cents! Here's the cover designed by our very own Sweet Romance Reads author, Cindy Flores Martinez. Isn't it lovely?

My story from the set may not seem like your typical winter story because it takes place partly in Hawaii, however, two Christmas gifts play an important role in bringing the characters together. Micah Chan and Lucy Choi hold a dear place in my heart because I've "watched" them grow up. They were first introduced as kids in two of my other books (Tropical Kiss or Miss and Drawn to You) and are now finding their own happily-ever-after in Tropical Kiss and Tell.

Micah Chan has loved Lucy Choi ever since they were kids, but life—and some regretful decisions—stopped him from pursuing her. Now he has a choice to make: Let her marry another man or break up her engagement to make this Christmas the most memorable one of their lives.

Pre-order Tropical Kiss and Tell and five other stories from bestselling authors today!

Tell me, what else do you think winter is the perfect season for? I'd love to read your ideas in the comments below.

July Book Bash 7/19 ~ Summer Reads SALE

I write books set in Emerald Isle, NC and books set in central Virginia (that area west of Richmond and reaching into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We all know summer is a prime time for beach reading, but those books don’t have to be set at the beach, right? In celebration of the Sweet Romance Reads “July Book Blast” I’d like to shine a little summer sun on my VIRGINIA COUNTRY ROADS NOVELS by putting a couple of them on sale for 99 cents.
The Virginia Country Roads Novels are standalone, single-title novels (except for LEAVING CUB CREEK which is the sequel to CUB CREEK, but CUB CREEK can be read as a standalone).
A STRANGER IN WYNNEDOWER will be on sale for 99 cents on 7/19 - 7/20. CUB CREEK will be on sale for 99 cents on 7/21 -7/22. I’ve included their book blurbs below, but if you’d like more information about these, as well as my other books, check them out here: www.GraceGreene.com
Happy Summer Reading!

A STRANGER IN WYNNEDOWER

Rachel Sevier, a lonely thirty-two-year-old inventory specialist, travels to Wynnedower Mansion in rural Virginia seeking her brother who has stopped returning her calls. Instead, she finds Jack Wynne, the mansion’s bad-tempered owner. He isn’t happy to meet her. Her brother took off without notice and left Jack in a lurch. Rachel has doubts. Did her brother really leave? Where would he have gone?

Jack has his own plans. He’s tired of being responsible for everyone and everything. He wants to shake those obligations, including the old mansion. The last thing he needs is another complication, including his former caretaker’s sister, but he allows Rachel to stay for a few days while she figures out what to do next.

At Wynnedower, Rachel becomes curious about the house and its owner. If rumors are true, the means to save Wynnedower Mansion from demolition are hidden within its walls, but the other inhabitants of Wynnedower have agendas, too. Not only may Wynnedower’s treasure be stolen, but also the life of its arrogant master, unless Rachel can save them.

CUB CREEK

In the heart of Virginia, where the forests hide secrets and the creeks run strong and deep ~

Libbie Havens is fine on her own. She doesn’t need anyone, including the approval of her family. When she chances upon the secluded house on Cub Creek she purchases it. She’ll show her cousin Liz, and other doubters, that she can rise above her past and live happily and successfully on her own terms.

Libbie has emotional problems born of a troubled childhood. Raised by a grandmother she could never please, Libbie is more comfortable not being comfortable with people. She knows she’s different from most. She has special gifts, or curses, but are they real? Or are they products of her history and dysfunction?

At Cub Creek Libbie makes friends and attracts the romantic interest of two local men, Dan Wheeler and Jim Mitchell. Relationships with her cousin and other family members improve dramatically and Libbie experiences true happiness—until tragedy occurs.

Having lost the good things gained at Cub Creek, Libbie must find a way to overcome her troubles, to finally rise above them and seize control of her life and future, or risk losing everything, including herself.
