Do you have plans for Valentine's Day? We don't!

Do you do anything special for Valentine's Day? The restaurants are always so busy that evening that we always stay home.

I do hope some grandkids will visit before then, so we can have fun decorating Valentine's cookies.  Not that the theme actually works out, though. Pretty soon we have ALL of the favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas cookie cutters out and every possible color of decorating sugars.  Heaps on each cookie!  And soon, the counters, the oven, and the floor end up crunchy. No worries--the point is having fun and making memories.

I finally learned my lesson, though. My flat Airbake cookie sheets were great for making cookies, but not so good at actually corraling all of those decorative toppings.  So now, they have gone to Salvation Army, and I have cookie sheets with rims.  Seriously--why didn't I think of that before?!

Tomorrow, we are heading an hour south to a Mennonite horse auction, where my sister-in-law and her husband will be selling seven Belgians. We can't wait to visit with them and watch the auction. It also means a chance to visit the Mennonite grocery store.  It's huge, the prices are low, and they have long aisles of every item imaginable for decorating cookies and cakes.  I need to stock up for baking with the grands!

On another note--I have a new Christian romance suspense book out!  I'm so excited about this one.  Here is the Amazon link for  CHRISTMAS DANGER, and a quick description:

After facing a terrible loss, Johanna hopes to find healing and a new beginning by moving away. But will this decision be the last one she makes?

An escape artist of a horse and a Great Pyrenees pup the size of Texas are all the family she needs now--or so she thinks.
But when a stranger threatens both her and the clinic where she works, dangers mount. Who can she turn to for help?  Maybe that rancher who had seemed so wrong for her...

"A heartwarming story of honor, love of family, and ties that bind through generations, even through life's most difficult challenges."  Online reviewer

Oh, and by the way--every crazy thing her horse does in this story is something one of my childhood horses did.  :)  He was a towering 17 hands, and he sure found ways to get in trouble!

Happy Valentine's Day!

  1. We like to stay home for Valentine's Day too. Instead, we have fun trying to make a fancy meal with a fun dessert. It's a lot of fun and I don't have to wear shoes. ;)
