My favorite destinations would be the Montana and Wyoming Rockies...as you could probably guess if you were to glance at the settings of half of the novels I've written.
I love the grandeur of those rugged, snowy peaks. The crisp, pine-scented air. The profusion of delicate wildflowers if one visits in early summer. We've been out there many times, and I hope we can go back next year.
In the meantime, I've had fun setting my current book series in Montana. HIGH COUNTRY HOMECOMING is out right now (June.)
Many of the Love Inspired covers include the hero and heroine. Do you prefer scenic covers? Or would you rather see characters on a cover? Leave a comment, to be in a drawing for a free e-copy of this book! Here's a quick blurb:
After the calamitous end of
her job in Minneapolis, news coverage of the debacle ensured that she was
nearly unemployable in the Twin Cities. None of it was her fault, but until one
particularly rabid reporter gives up and leaves her in peace, new beginnings seem
impossible. Yet...the solitude of the remote ranch country where she lived for
a few years as a child now gives her hope. Surely no one will find her clear
out here. Her biggest dream has been to become a writer. Here she can finally
finish her book and hope it can help pay off her staggering legal debts. But when she arrives, she finds the last person
she expects—her childhood nemesis...who has also returned to the ranch to try
to find his own new beginnings.
Best wishes to you all for a wonderful summer!

ReplyDeleteI've never visited Montana or the Wyoming Rockies, Roxanne. I'd love to, though.
ReplyDeleteA combination of both is great but if I must choose I would say scenic.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the story. I like both. For Inspirational books scenic scenes work well. For more sexy books I like the cinch couples view.

That is a beautiful cover. I do like scenic covers. I know many like to see the hero and heroine on covers, but I kind of like to create my own images of the characters from the author's description. I lived in Montana when I was kid and have visited there many times.
ReplyDeleteRoxanne, your book cover is lovely, and the blurb compelling. Sometimes I prefer scenery instead of people on a cover. Probably depends on my mood in the moment. ;) I haven't been to MT or WY in 20+ years, and would love to return.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Montana and Wyoming.
ReplyDeleteI like both, but there are some really pretty scenery covers that have caught my eye. I think I tend more to just glance over couple covers.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new release!
ReplyDeleteIf I could go any place in the US I'd go to NY city. I've always wanted to go and have never been. As to your other question I don't have a preference on scenery vs. characters.
Love Montana, Alaska, Hawaii.. but I'm going no where this summer!
