Christmas Presence by Magdalena Scott

Last year, the Christmas season wore me out. You can read my brief replay by clicking here

This season has been full of even more concerts and parties, but there have also been plenty of quiet evenings watching old Christmas movies or reading a holiday romance.

I've done a little cooking, and will do a bit more. There are five events on the calendar for Dec. 24 and 25, and I'm looking forward to each one.

And this year, instead of being too exhausted to write, I'm happy with what I have accomplished.

Evidently someplace along the way I accidentally found the mix of activities and expectations that works for me.

Although I've donated to charity and done my annual stint with the Salvation Army bell, I haven't set foot in a mall, or wrapped a package. No one in my little family needs or wants more stuff. For December 25th, after attending a friend's champagne brunch and before the big family dinner in the evening, there's talk of Scrabble and other board games. This year, we're giving each other Christmas presence--spending relaxed time together, just enjoying each other's company. There's nothing anyone could put under my tree that would be better than that.

Are you doing anything different with your holiday celebrations this year?
