The Lives & Loves of Five Brothers by Liwen Y. Ho

I'm so excited to share my new release with you today! This book, A Single Spark, also kicks off my brand new series called The Spark Brothers. Through these books, you'll get an inside look at the lives and loves of five brothers: Aiden, Brandon, Colin, Darren and Evan Spark.

Book one focuses on big brother, Aiden, and his nemesis/love interest, Abby Dearan.

Former boy band hottie, Aiden Spark, distanced himself from everything he valued—faith, family, and fame—when he lost his girlfriend. A decade later, he’s still hiding behind his grief when he accidentally texts a woman who’s all too curious about his identity.

Burned by the men in her life, deejay Abby Dearan has chosen to focus on her newfound faith in God and use her radio presence for good. Her plans are thwarted though when a text message—and the irritating man who sent it—won’t leave her in peace.

Aiden can’t forget the woman who reminds him so much of his first love; Abby can’t remember the last time a man made her feel so beautiful. To make matters worse, it’s impossible to avoid one another when their siblings and friends—not to mention, divine intervention—keep pushing them together. Will the sparks igniting between them end up in flames or romance?

This story has a little bit of frenemy attraction, mistaken identities, and lots of divine intervention. Throw in some sparks (pun intended!), and you've got yourself a sweet and fun romance. This new release is only 99¢ for a limited time. I hope you'll pick up your Kindle copy HERE today!

Which Romantic Female Lead Do You Prefer? by Liwen Y. Ho

Last month, I shared about the two types of romantic male leads: the Type A hero and the Type B hero. (You can find that post HERE.) Today, we'll be looking at the eight heroine archetypes. Yes, you read that right. For some reason, there are four times as many types of female leads as there are male! Perhaps because women are more complicated?

1. The Boss: Confident, high-achieving, and competitive. Examples of The Boss are Lucy from the Peanuts comic strip and Murphy Brown.

2. The Seductress: Assertive, strong, and calculating. Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With the Wind and Shakespeare's Cleopatra are examples of The Seductress.

3. The Spunky Kid: Funny, sarcastic, and loyal. Examples of Spunky Kids are Superman's Lois Lane and Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice.

4. The Free Spirit: Sincere, fun-loving, and extroverted. Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Jane Austen's Emma are Free Spirits.

5. The Waif: Pure, trusting, and insecure. Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Princess Buttercup from The Princess Bride are Waifs.

6. The Librarian: Efficient, self-reliant, and dependable. Trinity from The Matrix and Portia from The Merchant of Venice are Librarians.

7. The Crusader: Courageous, persuasive, and tenacious. Mulan and Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer are examples of Crusaders.

8. The Nurturer: Altruistic, capable, and optimistic. Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility and Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show are Nurturers.

It was really interesting for me to read about all these archetypes. I believe I alternate between a couple of them, depending on which "hat" I'm wearing at the moment. I'm a Nurturer when it comes to my husband and kids, but waffle between a Waif and a Librarian when it comes to my work.

Like me, the heroine in my latest story, Chasing Romance, is also a Librarian. Izzy Sutton raised her daughter by herself when her ex-boyfriend skipped town eighteen years ago. She also opened up and runs her own business, a Bed and Breakfast. Being so self-reliant poses problems, however, when it comes to her love life.

When pop sensation Chase Lockhart wants more than a room at Izzy Sutton’s Bed and Breakfast, she must decide whether it’s worth opening up her heart to him, especially when he’s eleven years her junior.

You can read Chase and Izzy's story and nine other sweet romances in Fall Into Romance, a boxed set releasing October 5th!
