Dreams by Merrillee Whren

What do you think of when you think of dreams? We have conscious dreams and unconscious dreams. Conscious dreams are often goals we have set. A new job. A new house. A new car. The dream of publishing a book. That was my dream for many years. Now it is a reality.

Do you think conscious and unconscious dreams can collide? That's an interesting question. I've had dreams that helped me solve a problem in real life. And I've always been fascinated with dreams. Sometimes my dreams can be very bizarre. Did I eat something spicy that made me have crazy dreams?

There are fourteen types of common dreams, even across different cultures. Here is the list.
 1.  Being chased
 2.  Water
 3.  Vehicles
 4.  People
 5.  School or Classroom
 6.  Paralysis
 7.  Death
 8.  Flying
 9.  Falling
10. Nudity
11. Baby
12. Food
13. House
14. Sex

You can find interpretations of these dream types in many places on the internet. What kind of dreams do you have?

  1. Most of my dreams are being in school with my upper half naked. LOL. I already have your book.

  2. I often dream about my childhood homes and that I'm walking through those streets at night. I also have recurring dreams of places I don't think exist in real life but they're always so spectacular like beaches and mountains and beautiful small towns.

    1. I wonder about dreams where you visit places you've never been or meet strange people.

  3. My dreams often included someone chasing after me or me chasing after something. Or, I'm seeing a new guy--not my husband. Yikes!

  4. I have no common dreams like on this list but I dream EVERY night and multiple times a night! They are super real and almost always have people I know in them! I tell my husband it's strange because he's rarely in them :(

    1. My dreams are super real, too. When I have a bad one, I'm so glad when I wake up and realize it's dream.

  5. So interesting, Merrillee. I've always been intrigued by dreams. I have a recurring dream of a home I used to live in. Interestingly, my son dreams about the same house. (We loved it there!) :)

  7. I almost never recall my dreams. Once in awhile I will remember a single event from one, but even that is rare. The only dreams that have stuck with me are a couple of recurring childhood nightmares - and I am grateful that they are only a memory and I'm not having those same dreams again. The last recurring (but not the childhood ones) dream that I had was years ago...and the event I remembered actually came to pass...and that is when the dream ended. Oddly enough, I later learned that my mother was having the same nightmare - and hers ended when mine did.

    1. Wow! That's really something, your mom and you having the same bad dream.

  8. Had a reoccurring dream of my grade school being on fire and running out the backdoor with my classmates to safety. The last time I had it, I didn't get out. I haven't had that dream since then.

  9. I never dreamed about my husband when we were married (for 26 yrs). Only after our divorce did I have dreams where he showed up. Weird!
I have very involved dreams where family members who have passed are there along with others. Sometimes I think “you can’t be here” and it wakes me up. When I was younger I had falling dreams - often in an elevator. Glad they stopped!
